4/52 {52 weeks}

So, here's my entry for week 4 of the LensProToGo 52 week challenge. This week's theme was to do a self-portrait. To say that I detest having my picture taken would be a HUGE understatement. I seriously don't like it. I also am not fond of trying to use the timer on my camera and unfortunately have no lenses that really are wide enough to do a "hold the camera out and shoot" picture. So…. this week's entry is via the iPhone and Instagram app (I love this app… it's totally one of my favorites).

4/52 - self-portrait

I'm not really that yellow, by the way. That's all thanks to crappy bathroom lighting and the filter I used in Instagram. I have another one that I might wind up switching this one out for (I print these on as an 8x12 and put them along with some journaling in my Project Life book each week). So… there you go. Me. Moi. With a smirk and no lipstick (not that either of those things is all that uncommon really) and what could possible stand in as a happy mug shot. But hey… at least my hair was kinda fixed. Usually it's in a ponytail or bun on the back of my head… whatever. :)

Yesterday, it was cars, cars, and more cars.

Today, it was cars, cars, and puzzles. TWENTY-FOUR puzzles, to be exact. What can I say… kid's got a thing for puzzles.

3/52 - my favorite thing

Week 3 of the 52 week challenge with LensProToGo. The challenge for this week is "My Favorite Thing", however it was narrowed down a bit later and morphed into "what would you save in the event of a fire (provided your family and pets were already safe). This was an easy choice for me. In a heartbeat, I'd grab my laptop and external hard drives. All of my pictures, and tons of memories, are held on these drives…. all the way back until 2003! I'm terrible about printing pictures, so I don't really have any albums to take with me. Although, if I could go back for one other thing, I would definitely grab my Project Life books (yes… last year is divided into two albums) from last year. Sure, I have all of the pictures on those external hard drives that I've already saved…. but there's a lot of other "stuff" in those albums that also mean a lot to me.

2/52 - My front door.

Week 2 of LensProToGo's 52 week challenge. The theme for week 2 was "Your Front Door". Well… this is my front door. On this particular day, it was really cold…. it had just snowed the evening before (hence the view of the inside of the door rather than the outside). Over to the side you can see the remnants of our playtime in the snow the evening before…. coats hanging, as well as my boots that were left out to dry. Of course, there's also a stray pair of socks belonging most likely to my oldest child. He has a tendency to leave them here quite often.

Jack & music

I just had to remember this…

I let him eat his lunch on the couch today while he watched an episode of The Backyardigans. It's the same episode he always wants to watch… The Big Dipper Diner. I looked over at him at one point and he was singing right along to the song (whatever song they were singing at the time). I reminded him he needed to eat and he told me, "in a minute, Ma… I'm singing!" And sure enough… when the song was over he went right back to eating his lunch.

I love that he loves to sing. I caught him singing Red Solo Cup earlier today while he was playing in the playroom. All he sings is the "let's have a party" part of the song. It's hilarious, though… oh, and he won't let any of us sing along if it's on in the car. Nope. Not at all. And then later in the afternoon he was singing a mixture of other songs… something about Super Spy (another Backyardigans thing) and Rio, I think. He's such a silly kid.

I found him sitting at my piano earlier today… looking at the music and pretending to play. Of course he stopped when I tried to get a picture of it. A few minutes later he started to get some other music out of the piano bench. I told him not to mess with it and he said, "but ma… this one's too hard for me! It's easy for you, but too hard for me!" Little does he know… ;)

Week 1

I'm joining in on the 52 week project with LensProToGo this year. I need some inspiration… some way of getting my mojo (for lack of a better word) back. I've been a bit in the dumps photography-wise for a while now. Oh, there have been glimmers of hope here and there… but nothing has really pulled me out yet. I know there's no way I can complete a 365 (or 366 this year) project… not with my "real" camera anyway, so I figured I'd give the 52 week project a try. I mean, surely I can take at least ONE picture a week, right?

So, this week's theme is "A Self Portrait Without You In It (Something that represents you)". I think this picture pretty much sums me up… music, photography, art/crafts, but most importantly… FAMILY.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone! Yes… I realize it's January 2 and I'm a day late, but whatever. ;)

We ended the year on quite the lazy note. We spent far more time than we probably should have in our pajamas… my face enjoyed a break from make-up… my hair enjoyed a break from styling products… well, you get the idea. It was a much needed break from all the chaos surrounding us. The boys discovered the board games when we switched some rooms around and spent quite a bit of time playing each day. Hullabaloo is Jack's favorite at the moment (wow… I didn't pay that much for it, but I bought it in 2007)…  Alex's favorite right now is Life… unfortunately, he can't play that one with just Jack.
